PRESS RELEASE
MANNING WINTER FESTIVAL WILL
“BRIGHTEN OUR WORLD”
According to Manning Winter Festival President Mave Richardson, the June 2016 Manning Winter Festival is all set to “Brighten Our World”.
Events leading up to festival time have already begun. The festival officially runs from Friday 3 June until Monday 13 June, with the Official Opening and presentation of the Manning Visual and Performing Arts Awards at the Manning Regional Art Gallery on Friday 3 June at 6 pm.
“This festival is held every two years to highlight and celebrate the vast amount of creative talent we have in the Manning Valley,” Mave said. “As well as promoting the ‘Magic of the Manning,’ we aim to showcase the wonderful creativity that brightens our world.” she added. One of the special events will be the “Brighten Our World” Dinner Dance on Friday 10 June at the Waterfront Function Centre in Taree. This positive theme across the community is evident throughout the whole festival program. “Make up a table or come on your own. Dress to impress! Be colour creative! Help us celebrate the many wonderful artistic people in the Manning,” says Mave.
“The Power of Words and Music” Concert on Sunday 5 June at St. John`s Anglican Church on Sunday afternoon 5 June is yet another event which offers something for everyone and reflects the great musical talent of local people. An important feature will be the especially commissioned music composition of the very talented and former “local boy,” Jonathan Billingham, entitled ‘From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea.” His composition is all about our beautiful Manning Valley.
Other events in the Festival program encompass a diverse range of talent, activities and events in our many Manning Valley communities. These include a Taree “Ormsby House” Senior Citizens Charcoal Drawing Workshop, a Wingham Spinners and Weavers Exhibition, the Quota Club “Sentimental Memories” exhibition of vintage bridal gowns and the Mount George Country and Western day, together with the Upper Lansdowne Players rural villages touring show, exhibitions and events at the Manning Regional Art Gallery, the Manning Entertainment Centre, Manning Valley Libraries, the Taree Literary Institute and the Wingham ANZAC Commemorative Events day on 12 June.
The program includes a range of visual and performing arts, artisans, music and song, history, photography, literature and everything in between. Check out the Kim Hamilton digital art exhibition at the Hallidays Point Manning Valley Library for some new perspectives about creative art.
