Gymnasts from the PCYC Taree delivered what has been described as a “stunning performance” as part of the official opening of the Manning Winter Festival.
Before an audience of more than 100 people at the Manning Regional Art Gallery, festival president Mave Richardson AM PSM said the Gymaroos performed “amazing calisthenics in front of us. They just set it off. The PCYC Taree we’ve adopted to support this year”.
The night saw the presentation of the Visual and Performing Arts Awards. Alison Haigh received the Visual Arts Award, Don Secomb and Tanya Brown shared the Performing Arts Award, while Ashley Cleaver and Tim Stack shared the Special Arts Awards.
Numerous highly commendeds were also presented.
Other highlights included the induction of Andy Saunders as this year’s festival ambassador.
“He was amazing,” said Mave.
“He’s a talented and funny person and very thoughtful in his humour. I think he’s a man who is bringing humour to social issues and making us reflect on our life and attitudes.
“He also spoke about being a proud Biripi man from the Manning Valley.”
